” Degree or No Degree, there
are millions of people in the world that do not know
what they are doing with their lives, and I am one
of them. The only difference is that while they are
dealing with the stressors of the real world, I am
balancing the social side of college with the academic
side and enjoying every minute of it.”

What
is your major? Majors?
I’ve switched majors quite a few times, but it looks as if I will end
up with something that would resemble a triple major/triple minor. The areas
of emphasis are Theater, Communications, Education, Health, Liberal studies,
and Women’s Studies. I am currently adding a minor or major in Social
Work.
Are
you afraid of graduating?
What I am afraid of is graduating and wishing I would have stayed one more
year. I have realized that people my age (and even people much older) are naturally
confused about what they are doing with their lives. I’ve got the rest
of my life to work and since I’m enjoying the college years…why
not add one more?
How
many credits do you have?
I need to check on this one. However, I feel as if I passed the 300 mark last
year. Or maybe it was the 400 mark…
Do
you date a lot of women? Freshmen?
I’m no ladies man. I've been stood-up, dumped, and had my heart broken
many times in the last decade. It also doesn't help that I get totally nervous
and can’t even put sentences together as soon as an attractive girl starts
talking to me. It takes me a little while to trust people enough to open up.
As far as freshman and sophomore girls, I have not dated one in a few years.
But if someone accuses me of dating “younger women” I am guilty
since they are all younger. I’ve been in college since 1994!
Does
it bother you that you are exploiting the system?
People have been misled to believe that taxpayer dollars are subsidizing my
educational costs. I am actually one of only a handful of students in the State
of Wisconsin that covers that subsidized amount out of my own pocket. As far
as taking up a spot of a deserving applicant, The Chancellor and other representatives
have been quoted that I have not stood in the way of a single applicant’s
acceptance.
Don’t
you think there should be more to life than just partying?
Without knowing me, people have this crazy image in their head that I am out
partying every night and sleeping in until noon. I may be doing it a few times
a week, but I am also active and motivated in many areas of campus and society.
I have been an A/B student for many years at an accredited University where
I have become (quite possibly) the most educated undergraduate in the world.
Some of my involvement on campus has included the founding of the organization
M.A.S.A.V. (Men Against Sexual Assault and Violence), serving as the Special
Events Coordinator for the College, and starting a scholarship program for
non-traditional aged college students. I have also been active with various
volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity, Camp Hope (a camp for children that
have lost a parent or loved one), the UW-W Praire Restoration Project, UW-W
Adopt a Quad, Camp Evergreen (camp for physically and mentally disabled), and
Camp Getaway (camp for inner-city Chicago children that are infected with HIV
or AIDS).
Do
you have any big goals for the final year?
I have two major goals right now. I want to fall in love and I want to go to
the Playboy Mansion. Hopefully these two do not end up happening on the same
night. I also created a semi-private list of the final 100 things that I wanted
to do before I graduated.
What are you going
to do after you graduate?
hmmmmm. music, acting, teaching, etc...
Why
do you keep going to college?
I thought that I had done everything imaginable with the college years.
I had gained national attention for just following my heart and staying in
school. I had been a guest on Letterman, studied abroad in Europe and Africa,
and was featured on the front page of the New York Times. I had gone on a dozen
spring breaks, was quoted in Newsweek Magazine, wrote a book about my extended
college adventures, had a law named after me, acted in a few movies, and
was even named to People Magazine’s Hottest Bachelor List. Anyway, I
was wrong...
How
can I show my support?

Would
you speak at my school?
I would love to! Pass my info onto any connections you may have with your university,
college students in organizations, or anyone that I could come down and lecture
to (residence halls, fraternities, etc...)? Over the next few months, I’m
checking out schools to possibly do graduate work at. I have spoken at other
major universities on the different topics such as…
*changes in college since 1994
*enjoying the college years
*responsible celebrating
*studying abroad throughout Europe and Africa
*spring break do s and don't s
*making a difference in the community
*interviewing for jobs
*benefits of getting involved on campus (and off)
*Greek life
*resume building and writing
*my experiences with the national media attention (Letterman, Good Morning
America, etc...)

When
do you graduate?
May 2008 09 10 11
Where
have you studied abroad?
I have studied in Stellenbosch (South Africa), Rome (Italy), Florence (Italy),
Venice (Italy), Lucerne (Switzerland), Paris (France), Amsterdam (Netherlands),
and London (England)
Do
you streak?
I'm not sure who started this whole myth of college kids streaking all of the
time, but do not believe the hype. I haven't gone streaking since last semester.
What
are some changes in college since 1994?
Internet, cell phones, and no more 90210.
Have
you ever flunked a class?
What
is your GPA?
I got a 4.0 last semester, but I’m basically an A/B student.
How
have you been able to afford this? Are your parents paying?
They did help me a bit my first year (back in 1994). I also took out some student
loans my first four years, but I have basically been paying my tuition
as I go along for the past decade. I’ve done everything from camp counselor,
to sub maker, to waiter, to playing shows and selling my acoustic CDs. It has
been pretty costly, but the college years are worth much more than money.
How
does it feel to be a hero?
I’ve gotten hundreds of emails from people telling me I should keep going
to school, that I am their hero, and that they are living vicariously through
me. However, I’m no hero at all. I'm just your average 'underdog' actor/
musician type who decided to follow his heart and not graduate yet.
I
saw that you do music. Do you write your own songs?
Yes I do. I write about all kinds of different
things. For more information check out the music area of
my website.
